A settled residential scheme with a lot of shared occupancy

Wapda Town is laid out across lettered blocks in Phase 1 and Phase 2, with wide block roads, a settled housing stock and a commercial pocket serving each area. Much of the work here is straightforward residential: 5 marla, 10 marla and 1 kanal houses on regular plots with a front gate, a side passage and a roof stair.

What makes the area distinctive for an installer is how much of that housing is shared or rented. Upper portions let out separately, family houses running as student hostels on the back of student demand in this part of the city, and ground-floor rooms used as small offices or academies are all common. Each of those needs the system split properly rather than simply fitted with more cameras.

Send your block and property type to WhatsApp on WhatsApp and we will confirm the next available survey slot.

Typical starting scope in Wapda Town

Confirmed at survey. Where a portion is rented or the house runs as a hostel, how the system is split matters more than the camera count.

Hostels and shared houses: get the boundaries right

Shared occupancy is where most local CCTV complaints start. These are the rules we work to, and we will not install against them.

  • Corridors and entrances only — Hostel coverage means the entrance, reception, corridors, stairwells, kitchen, parking and back gate. Cameras inside bedrooms or washrooms are not acceptable and we do not fit them.
  • Tell residents the system exists — A notice at the entrance stating that common areas are monitored is basic practice, and it prevents most arguments before they start.
  • One recorder, controlled access — The recorder belongs in a locked room with the owner or warden holding access, using named accounts rather than a password everyone knows.
  • Landlord and tenant split — Where an upper portion is rented, keep the recorder in the owner’s portion and agree in writing which cameras, if any, the tenant can view.
  • Facing gates on a regular block plot — Plots here are uniform and gates sit almost opposite each other, so a gate camera set slightly too wide covers the house across the street. We angle down the frontage and mask what is not yours.

Local conditions we design around

Load shedding and the recorder circuit

Recording has to survive the outage window, because that is the footage people ask for afterwards. The recorder, switch and router go on the inverter or a dedicated mini-UPS.

Frontages on the through roads

Blocks facing the busier roads collect road dust on domes and housings, and a hazed cover scatters infrared straight back into the picture. Budget for a clean each year on those cameras.

Street lighting is uneven

Several lanes are poorly lit at night, which is where full-colour or dual-light cameras give a usable image while plain infrared gives you a grey shape.

Monsoon and cable entries

Water usually gets in at junction boxes and cable entries rather than through the camera body. We use proper glands and sealed boxes on external runs.

Permissions and shared street cameras

Cameras mounted on your own boundary wall, gate pillars, porch or roof parapet are a private matter and need no external approval. Anything fixed to a street-light pole, a park railing or a green belt is a different question, because those belong to the utility or the local administration rather than to the resident.

Lane cameras funded jointly by a street’s residents work well when the paperwork is done first: a written scope, a nominated custodian for the footage, and clarity on who pays for the internet connection and the electricity. Mounting on one resident’s own wall or pillar, with their agreement, avoids the permission question entirely. We are happy to quote a shared scheme for a whole lane on that basis.

How to book

1. Send your block and how the house is used

Message us on WhatsApp with your block and phase, and say whether the property is single-family, has a rented portion or runs as a hostel, because that decides how the system is split.

2. Survey

We mark positions, measure runs, choose a recorder location inside the owner’s portion and check the inverter or UPS arrangement.

3. Written quotation

Itemised hardware, cabling and labour, sent to you directly rather than published on the site. Contact for Price throughout.

4. Install and hand over

Tidy cabling, recorder locked away, separate accounts for the owner and the warden or tenant, and a demonstration of exporting a clip to send on.

Frequently asked questions

Which parts of Wapda Town do you cover?

The lettered blocks across Phase 1 and Phase 2, plus the block market and commercial units. Send your block number on WhatsApp and we will confirm the next available survey slot.

How many cameras does a 5 marla house here need?

Four to six is the normal starting scope: the street and gate, the main door, the stair or roof access and the rear wall, on a 4 or 8 channel recorder. We confirm the count at survey.

I rent out my upper portion. How do we share the system?

Keep the recorder in your own portion, cover the shared entrance and stairs by written agreement, and give the tenant a limited app account only for the cameras you both agree on.

Can you install CCTV in a student hostel?

Yes, covering the entrance, reception, corridors, stairs, kitchen, parking and back gate. We do not install cameras in bedrooms or washrooms, and we recommend a visible notice at the entrance.

Do I need permission to install cameras?

Not for anything mounted inside your own boundary. For a camera on a street-light pole, a park railing or shared property you need permission from the relevant authority, since those poles are not the resident’s property.

Our lane wants shared cameras at the street entrance. Can you do that?

Yes, and it works best when the residents agree a written scope, nominate one person to hold the footage, and settle who pays for the internet and electricity before any hardware is ordered.

Will the system keep recording when the power goes?

It will if the recorder, PoE switch and router are on an inverter or a dedicated mini-UPS. Without that, recording stops during exactly the window you are most likely to need.

What will it cost?

Contact for Price. The total depends on camera count, cable runs, storage days and how many separate user accounts and splits the property needs. WhatsApp us with your block and requirement.
