About Wi-Fi Cameras
Indoor, outdoor and 360 degree pan-tilt wireless cameras you can watch on your phone, with straight advice on what they can and cannot do.A WiFi camera removes the video cable, not the power cable. It still needs a socket or an adapter at the mounting point, and it still needs a WiFi signal that actually reaches that point. Understanding those two things before you buy is the difference between a camera that works for years and one that keeps going offline. These are genuinely good for what they are built for — a room, a shop counter, a porch, a stairwell, a spot you want to check on the phone during the day. This is the mobile se dekhne wala camera most people mean when they ask for one: quick to set up, viewed through an app, and easy to move if you shift house.
The Range We Supply
Indoor fixed
A simple room or counter camera, usually with two-way audio and a microSD slot for local recording.
Indoor 360 pan-tilt
Motorised PT models that sweep a whole room from the app. Popular for kitchens, children's rooms and small shops.
Outdoor weather-rated
For porches, boundary walls and gates where a socket is available nearby and the router signal reaches.
Dual-lens and wide-angle
Models that cover a wider scene from one mounting point where running a second cable is not practical.
Local storage on microSD
Recording continues on the card even if the internet drops. Card capacity limits how far back you can go.
Alerts on the phone
Motion and person alerts push to the app. Placement decides whether those alerts are useful or a nuisance.
Five Honest Points Before You Buy
We would rather tell you these now than fit six cameras that disappoint.
- Boundary walls kill WiFi — A thick brick wall between the router and an outdoor camera can drop the signal badly. On a kanal house, the front gate is often out of reliable router range and needs a mesh point, an access point or a cabled camera instead.
- You still need power at the camera — If there is no socket at the mounting point, an electrician has to run one — at which point running network cable is often the better job. If there is no power at all, look at the solar and 4G range.
- No internet means no remote viewing — The camera can still record to its card locally, but the live view on your phone stops when the connection or the router goes down.
- Load shedding takes the router too — Unless the router and ONU are on your inverter or a small UPS, the phone view dies during an outage even where the camera itself has backup.
- Many cameras on one router is a real load — A handful of streams on a domestic connection is fine. Fifteen is not. Past a certain point, a wired system with a recorder is the right answer, not more wireless cameras.
Which Type Fits Your Situation
| Situation | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Room, counter or single indoor point, router nearby | Indoor WiFi camera, fixed or 360 PT |
| Porch or gate with a socket and good signal | Outdoor weather-rated WiFi camera |
| Empty plot, farm or boundary with no power and no WiFi | Solar and 4G SIM camera — see that category |
| Six or more points across a whole house | Wired IP system with an NVR, for reliability and continuous recording |
| Rented property you may leave soon | WiFi camera, easy to unmount and take with you |

Frequently asked questions
Does a WiFi camera work without internet?
It records to its microSD card without internet and you can often connect to it directly on the same local network. What stops without internet is remote viewing from outside the premises and push alerts to your phone. If there is no internet at the site at all, a SIM-based camera from the solar and 4G range is the correct product.
Does it need electricity at the camera position?
Yes. WiFi replaces the video cable, not the power supply. Battery models exist but need periodic recharging. If the mounting point has no power, tell us and we will point you to a solar option instead of selling you something that will not run.
Will one WiFi camera cover my whole house?
No. A 360 pan-tilt camera sweeps a room, but while it is looking one way it is not recording the other way. For whole-house coverage you want fixed cameras at each point, which is where a wired system with a recorder becomes the sensible choice.
How long does the microSD card keep footage?
It depends on card size, resolution and whether the camera records continuously or only on motion. Cards also wear out with constant writing, so treat them as a consumable. For footage you may genuinely need weeks later, a recorder with a proper hard disk is more dependable.
Can I watch these cameras from abroad?
Usually yes, through the app, provided the site has a working internet connection. Some Pakistani broadband connections need extra setup for reliable outside access — see remote CCTV monitoring for how we handle that.
Is a WiFi camera secure?
It is as secure as the password and firmware you keep on it. Change the default password, keep the firmware updated, and use a separate strong password from your other accounts. We set this up at handover rather than leaving the device on factory defaults.
