Systems that cry wolf — a detector over a kitchen pass, a sounder nobody can hear over machinery, a panel that has shown a fault light for two years — train everyone in the building to ignore them.

Devices We Install

Optical smoke detectors

The default for offices, corridors, bedrooms and escape routes. Not suitable directly above a kitchen or in dusty areas, where they generate false alarms and lose credibility.

Heat detectors

For kitchens, generator rooms, boiler areas and dusty stores where smoke detection would be triggered by normal activity. They respond to temperature rise instead of particles.

Multi-sensor detectors

Combined smoke and heat sensing for areas where the environment changes through the day, reducing false alarms without giving up early detection.

Manual call points

At exits, stair landings and along escape routes, so anyone who sees a fire can raise the alarm before a detector reacts.

Sounders and sounder-strobes

Positioned and counted so the alarm is audible in every occupied space, with strobes where noise levels are high — a factory floor, a plant room or a busy kitchen.

Control panel and repeaters

Conventional or addressable panel at a manned or accessible location, with a repeater at the gate or reception on larger sites so responders see the status immediately.

Beam detectors

For warehouses, godowns and halls with high ceilings, where point detectors at roof level would respond far too slowly.

Interfaces and outputs

Relay outputs to release access-controlled doors, stop plant, or signal a security office. These are designed in, not bolted on afterwards.

How a Fire Alarm Project Runs

1. Building survey

We walk every floor, note ceiling heights, room uses, escape routes, kitchens and plant areas, and identify where detection would be misapplied before anything is specified.

2. Zoning and device layout

The building is divided into zones that make sense for a person responding at the panel, and each device is placed on a drawing rather than decided on the day.

3. Quotation

4. Cabling and containment

Fire alarm cable run on its own dedicated route in conduit or trunking, kept separate from data and power, with proper fixings rather than clips that fail under heat.

5. Device installation

Detectors, call points and sounders installed at the designed positions and heights, with call points at exits where people will actually reach for them.

6. Commissioning and testing

Every device tested and confirmed at the panel, sounder audibility checked in occupied spaces, interfaces to doors and plant verified, and faults cleared before handover.

7. Handover and log book

Zone chart at the panel, as-built device schedule, a log book for weekly tests, and training for the staff who will silence, investigate and reset the panel.

Details That Decide Whether the System Is Any Use

  • Detector type matched to the room — A smoke detector over a tea point or a factory dust area will false-alarm until somebody disconnects it. Heat or multi-sensor devices belong there instead.
  • Audibility checked, not assumed — Sounder count is verified in the actual space with doors closed and machinery running, because an alarm nobody hears is worse than none at all.
  • Panel where somebody will see it — At a manned reception, gate or security point, with a repeater elsewhere if the building has more than one likely entry for responders.
  • Battery standby that actually holds — The panel must ride power outages on battery. In Lahore that is not a theoretical requirement — it is a weekly one, and batteries need periodic replacement.
  • Zone chart at the panel — A clear, current drawing next to the panel showing which zone is which. Without it, a zone alarm at 3am means searching the whole building.
  • Weekly test and log book — A different call point tested each week and the result recorded. This is the cheapest possible assurance that the system still works.

Factories, Warehouses, Schools and Plazas

Different buildings fail in different ways, so the design changes accordingly.

Factories and industrial units in the Kot Lakhpat, Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate and Sundar belts bring heat, dust and machinery noise. Detection has to tolerate the process environment, sounders have to beat the machine noise, and interfaces to shut down plant or release gates are usually part of the scope.

Warehouses and godowns have high ceilings and dense racking. Point detectors at roof level respond slowly, so beam detection along the aisles is normally the right approach, and the design must survive stock being restacked to a different height next season.

Schools and campuses need call points that pupils cannot casually trigger yet staff can reach, sounders that carry across a playground, and a clear evacuation signal that everybody has been drilled on.

Plazas and multi-tenant buildings raise the question of who owns the system. Common areas, stairwells and the basement belong to the building management, while each unit is the tenant’s scope — and the two must be interfaced so an alarm in one shop is heard in the corridor. Dense markets of the Hafeez Centre type carry a genuine fire risk simply because of the density of stock, cabling and people, and adding more load to an already crowded riser is not a neutral act.

Maintenance and Testing

A fire alarm is one of the few systems where doing nothing has a visible cost. Detectors collect dust — particularly through Lahore’s smog months — batteries age, sounders get painted over during renovations, and devices get isolated during building work and never restored.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose a conventional or an addressable panel?

Conventional suits a shop, a small office or a single-floor unit where walking a zone to find the device is no hardship. Addressable is the better answer for multi-storey buildings, factories, warehouses and campuses, because the panel names the exact device and fault finding takes seconds rather than a search.

How many detectors does my building need?

It depends on floor area, room layout, ceiling height and how each space is used, not on a per-marla figure. A survey and a device layout give you an accurate count. Anyone quoting a device number over the phone is guessing.

Will the alarm keep working during load shedding?

Yes, that is a core requirement. The panel carries battery standby sized to hold the system through an outage and still drive the sounders. Batteries have a service life and are checked and replaced as part of maintenance.

Can the fire alarm release my access-controlled doors?

Yes, and on escape routes it should. The panel provides a relay output that drops the locks on alarm. If you have access control already, tell us at survey and we will design the interface into the scope.

Do you repair and maintain existing fire alarm systems?

Yes, including systems we did not install. Common jobs are clearing persistent fault lights, replacing failed detectors, restoring devices that were isolated during renovation, and replacing exhausted panel batteries.

Why does my current system keep giving false alarms?

Usually because a smoke detector has been placed where smoke, steam or dust is normal — above a tea point, near a kitchen, or in a dusty store. The fix is to change the detector type or the position, not to disconnect the device, which is what commonly happens and leaves the area unprotected.

Is a fire alarm legally required for my building in Lahore?
