About the 4 Megapixel Network Bullet Motorized Camera

A motorised lens solves a specific problem: nobody has to climb back up the wall to change the framing. The lens can be set anywhere between 2.8 mm and 12 mm — a 4× optical range — from the camera's own interface rather than by hand at the bracket. The rest is a 4 MP bullet: 2560 × 1440, a 1/3-inch sensor rated to 0.005 lux, 50 metres of infrared, IP67 sealing and DC12V or PoE. Just be clear that motorised is not PTZ; the lens zooms, but the camera does not pan or tilt to follow anyone.

Key benefits

  • Lens adjusts between 2.8 mm and 12 mm without returning to the bracket
  • 4× optical zoom keeps full resolution, unlike digital zoom on a fixed lens
  • 0.005 lux minimum illumination helps hold a colour picture as evening light drops
  • Fifty-metre infrared supports the longer scenes the zoom range is meant for
  • One camera can be re-framed later if the site layout changes

Where it works well

  • Long driveway where framing may change after landscaping
  • Society entry road covering both approach and gate
  • Construction site where the working area moves weekly
  • Factory yard needing a wide view now, tighter later
  • Tall building wall watching a distant service gate

Frequently asked questions

Is this a PTZ camera?

No. The motor drives the lens between 2.8 mm and 12 mm — it zooms, but the body does not pan or tilt. Once fixed, it looks in one direction. If you need the camera to follow a person across a yard, you are looking at a different type of unit.

Who sets the zoom, and can it be changed later?

The lens is adjusted through the camera's interface rather than by hand at the bracket, which is the whole point of a motorised model. We set the framing at installation, and it can be changed afterwards without taking the camera down.

Does zooming in cost me coverage?

Yes, and it is worth planning for. At 12 mm you get detail at the far end but a narrow view; at 2.8 mm you see a wide area with less detail on any single face. Set it for the job the camera is there to do, not for the most impressive live view.

Is it worth more than a fixed-lens 4 MP bullet?

If you know exactly what the camera must see and that will not change, a fixed lens is the sensible spend. Motorised earns its cost where the site is still developing, where access to the mounting point is awkward, or where one camera has to serve different situations.
