Does this variant do face recognition or number plates?

The feature data for this model lists the VCA set, meaning tripwire, region intrusion, abandoned or missing object and video exception alerts, but it does not list face comparison or LPR. The four- and eight-bay 32-channel models do list both. If gate plates or face matching are part of the brief, step up to one of those.

Can staff view it from their phones?

Yes, mobile surveillance is supported on iOS and Android, and NAT with QR code scanning makes the initial pairing quick. The recorder also supports DHCP, DDNS and PPPoE for the connection side. Reliable remote viewing still depends on the internet service at the site, which is worth checking before you promise it to anyone.

What monitor does it need?
