Frequently asked questions

I already have eight 2MP cameras. Will they all work?

If they are analog HD cameras in TVI, AHD or CVI format at up to 1080P, yes, on the same coaxial runs. Older analog cameras or a mixed set are worth checking first. Send a photo of the back panel of your current recorder on WhatsApp and we will confirm.

What is the point of the 5MP IP channels?

They allow up to two network cameras at higher resolution than the analog side supports. The usual reason is a gate or entrance camera where face detail matters, while the wider coverage stays at 1080P. It avoids replacing an entire system for one important view.

Can more than one person view it remotely?

Remote access runs through the web interface, CMS software and the Android and iOS apps, with user accounts and authorisation levels you can set. How many simultaneous viewers stay smooth depends mainly on the upload speed of the internet connection at the site.

Is load-shedding hard on the recorder?

Sudden power cuts are hard on any recorder and its hard disk. We advise running the DVR and cameras through a UPS so the unit shuts down cleanly and keeps recording through short outages. We can size a UPS with you once the camera count is fixed.
