Indoor spaces where you need to tell one person from another are where a colour dome earns its keep. At 1920 × 1080 with colour night view rated to 30 metres, faces and clothing stay in colour rather than washing out to grey, and the 1/2.8-inch sensor keeps the recording load reasonable. A microphone is built in, subject to your recorder accepting audio, and the IP67 housing means it is not restricted to dry indoor positions. One practical point: a dome mounted low is within reach of a hand or a broom handle, so height matters as much as the specification.

Frequently asked questions

How high should this dome be fitted?

High enough to be out of easy reach, low enough that you are looking at faces rather than the tops of heads. In a normal shop that usually means just above door height on a wall, or the ceiling directly over the counter area. We set the exact angle on site.

Can it be used outside?

The housing is IP67 rated for dust and water, so an outdoor position under a soffit or on a covered porch is reasonable. The joint where the tail is spliced is the part that fails first outdoors, so it should be made up properly and kept out of standing water.

Will it record sound?

A microphone is built into the camera, so audio is available at the camera end. Whether it reaches the recording depends on the DVR accepting an audio input. Please also consider who is being recorded before you enable audio in a public area.

How many cameras can I run on one recorder?

That is set by the channel count of the DVR you buy, not by the camera. Tell us how many positions you need to cover in your shop or house and we will suggest a recorder size with room to add one or two later.
