About the VisionBell - Outdoor Video Doorbell Terminal

VisionBell answers the gate at homes where a battery doorbell would not last the summer. It is a wired unit on PoE or DC12V, with a 1/2.8-inch CMOS behind a 2.3mm lens giving a 170° view, wide enough to show a visitor from head to feet at close range. Card entry is supported through Mifare and Desfire tags at 13.56MHz, and it can drive an electric lock, exit button and door contact. Its face function is detection and capture rather than a stored recognition database.

Frequently asked questions

Is it battery powered like the imported smart doorbells?

No, it is a wired terminal running on PoE or DC12V. That means a cable has to reach the gate, but it also means the unit is always on and never needs charging. For most homes with a power point nearby, that is the more dependable arrangement.

Does it recognise faces and unlock automatically?

It performs face detection and face capture, which is not the same as a stored face database that releases the door. Entry is by card, by answering the call, or through a connected door release. If face-based unlocking is what you want, ask us about the terminals that carry a face recognition database.

Will rain damage it on an exposed wall?

The housing is rated IP65 for outdoor use, which covers rain and dust in a normal exposed position. We still mount doorbell units slightly under the lintel or a small canopy wherever the wall allows, because that keeps water and direct afternoon sun off the lens.

Can it see at night without a light near the gate?

Yes. It supports zero-lux operation using infrared, with white light available when a face needs to be captured in colour. Placement matters more than the rating here, so keep the visitor's likely standing position close to the unit.
