About the 4 Megapixel Network Dome Camera

Offices and showrooms want the camera to disappear into the ceiling, which is where a 4 MP dome earns its place. This one records 2560 × 1440 from a 1/2.7-inch sensor, with 30 metres of infrared in an IP67 body, so it suits a covered porch ceiling as well as a reception area. The extra resolution over a 2 MP dome matters most when a single camera covers a wide room and you later need to crop into one corner of the frame. Keep it clear of tube lights and low beams; anything close to the dome throws infrared straight back at the lens.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a ceiling dome look foggy at night?

Infrared reflecting off a nearby surface back into the lens. A beam, a wall, a false ceiling lip or a dusty dome cover will all do it. Give the camera clearance from anything close and clean the cover — those two things resolve most cases.

4 MP or 2 MP for an office floor?

If a single camera has to cover a wide open floor and you expect to zoom into recordings later, 2560 × 1440 gives you the room to do that. For a small cabin or a doorway, 2 MP is enough and lighter on the recorder's disk.

Can it go on a false ceiling?

It can, provided the fixing goes into something solid rather than the panel alone — a support plate or a fixing into the frame is what keeps it aligned over time. Send a photo of the ceiling on WhatsApp before installation day so we bring what is needed.

Is it indoor only?

No. The IP67 rating covers dust and water, so covered outdoor ceilings such as a porch or walkway are within specification. A sheltered position also keeps the dome cover cleaner, which matters more for night pictures than most people realise.
