Each channel accepts up to 8MP, H.265S compression keeps the single drive from filling too quickly, and the analytics list is not cut down for the smaller channel count — tripwire, region intrusion, abandoned or missing object and crowd density analysis are all present. The obvious limitation is that four means four, so if there is any real chance of adding cameras later, look at the eight-channel model now rather than replacing the recorder. No. It accepts inputs up to 8MP, which means lower-resolution IP cameras work perfectly well on it.
