That is the design intent of this model — eight PoE ports for eight cameras, each on a single cable. Cameras with unusually high power draw, such as those with built-in heaters or pan-tilt motors, should be checked against their own datasheets before you rely on the recorder's ports. For standard fixed domes and bullets it is a clean, tidy installation.

What happens if I need a ninth camera?

You would add a PoE switch on the network and feed the extra camera in that way, but the recorder still only records eight channels. If the site is likely to grow, a sixteen-channel recorder is the more sensible foundation. It is worth having that conversation before the cabling goes in rather than after.
