About the 2 Megapixel 25x AI PTZ Camera

A PTZ earns its place where one camera has to cover ground that three or four fixed cameras would otherwise share. This 2 MP model zooms 25× across a 5–125 mm range, with 150 metres of infrared and a very low 0.003 lux colour rating. Smart tracking follows people and vehicles automatically, and perimeter rules such as line crossing and region intrusion can drive the alarm output. No, and this is the single most misunderstood point about them. It records whatever direction it is pointed in, so anything happening behind it is missed. Most sites we set up use a PTZ for reach and detail, with fixed cameras holding the critical gates and doors continuously.

What does the smart tracking do in practice?

When a person or vehicle enters the scene, the camera can follow it automatically instead of waiting for someone to steer it. Behaviour depends on how the presets and rules are configured during commissioning, which is part of the installation work rather than something that arrives set up.

Is 2 MP enough on a camera like this?

On a PTZ, the detail comes mainly from optical zoom, and 25× is a lot of reach. If you also want higher resolution so that a moderately zoomed shot still holds detail, the 4 MP 32× and 45× models in the same range are the ones to compare.

How is it powered on a pole?
