About the 3 Megapixel Dual-Light Network Bullet Camera

Stepping from 1920 × 1080 to 2304 × 1296 is not a dramatic jump, but it buys roughly a fifth more horizontal pixels across the same scene, which counts when a gate or yard is wider than a doorway. The PLC 423P AU DL3 PM is also rated to 0.02 lux for colour against the 2 MP model's 0.0462 lux, so it holds colour a little further into the evening. Everything else follows the dual-light family: a 30-metre night range, line crossing and region intrusion detection, ONVIF, IP67 and 802.3af PoE. Expect the extra pixels to cost you recorder storage.

Key benefits

  • 2304 × 1296 gives about a fifth more horizontal detail than 1080p.
  • 0.02 lux colour rating holds colour later into the evening than the 2 MP model.
  • Dual-light night vision covers 30 metres in infrared or white light.
  • 802.3af PoE keeps installation to a single network cable per camera.
  • Region intrusion and line crossing detection suit a defined boundary line.
  • IP67 construction handles direct rain on an exposed pole or wall mount.

Where it works well

  • Main gate of a house where the driveway is wide
  • Loading bay or yard entrance at a small factory
  • Long boundary wall run along a plot in Bahria Town
  • Petrol pump forecourt covering several pump islands
  • Godown approach road where vehicles enter at speed

Frequently asked questions

Is 3 MP worth the extra over the 2 MP model?

It depends entirely on how wide the scene is. Across a two-metre doorway you will struggle to see the difference; across a six-metre gate or a yard, the extra horizontal pixels are the difference between recognising someone and just seeing that someone was there. The lower 0.02 lux colour rating is a second, quieter reason to prefer it.

How does the higher resolution affect storage?

More pixels per frame means more data written to the hard disk, so either your recording days drop or you fit a larger drive. The exact impact depends on frame rate, scene activity and how the recorder is configured. We size the disk against the number of cameras and how many days of history you want to keep.

How far can the network cable run?

PoE installations follow standard Ethernet practice, which means keeping the run within the usual copper limit and using proper solid-core Cat6 rather than thin patch cable. Beyond that distance a mid-span switch or a fibre link is the normal answer. We check run lengths during the site survey so nothing is discovered after the trunking is fixed.

Is line crossing detection actually useful on a boundary wall?

It is, provided the line is drawn sensibly. Set along the top of a wall or across a gate opening, it produces far fewer nuisance alerts than plain motion detection triggered by trees, cats and passing traffic. It still needs tuning to the site, which is part of the installation rather than a factory setting.
