Number plate capture is a different job from general surveillance, and this Pollo unit is built for it. The 1/1.8-inch sensor and 2560 × 1440 output are paired with an onboard plate list holding up to 10,000 vehicles, with capture rated for traffic moving up to 120 km/h. Infrared reaches 100 metres, so a long approach lane stays usable after dark. The trade-off is mounting discipline: an LPR camera has to be aimed tightly along the lane at a controlled angle, so it will not double as your wide overview camera.

Can it read plates if I mount it on the corner of the boundary wall?

Plate reading depends on the camera looking along the vehicle's path at a shallow angle, not across it. A corner position that sees cars side-on will usually record the vehicle but not a readable plate. Send photos of your gate and lane on WhatsApp and we will suggest a mounting point.

Will it read every Pakistani number plate?

Recognition works best on standard, clean plates presented reasonably square to the lens. Decorative, damaged or dust-covered plates are harder for any LPR camera, as is a sharp turn into the gate. The specification covers vehicles up to 120 km/h, which is far above gate speeds, so approach angle and plate condition matter far more than speed here.

Do I still need an ordinary camera at the same gate?

In most layouts, yes. An LPR camera is tuned for the plate and its view is deliberately narrow, so it will not give you a usable picture of the driver, a visitor on foot, or the rest of the gate area. Pair it with a general camera covering the same entrance.

What does it need to run?
