About the 5 Megapixel IR Varifocal FHD Bullet Camera
The lens is what you are buying here. A 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal with 4× optical zoom lets the field of view be matched to the actual scene, wide across a forecourt at 2.8 mm or tightened at 12 mm to hold a gate at the far end of a plot, instead of accepting whatever a fixed lens gives. Infrared night view is rated at 50 metres and capture is 2560 × 1936, in an IP67 bullet housing. Set the angle carefully at fitting, because a varifocal camera is only as useful as the view it is left on.

Frequently asked questions
What does varifocal mean in practice?
A fixed lens gives you one field of view and you build the installation around it. A varifocal lens can be set anywhere between 2.8 mm and 12 mm, so the same camera can be wide on a forecourt or narrow down the length of a driveway. It makes the camera far easier to fit correctly on an awkward site.
Is 50 metres of infrared realistic?
Fifty metres is the rated figure and it is measured in favourable conditions. An open, unobstructed driveway comes closer to it than a scene full of walls, trees and parked vehicles that absorb the light. We normally plan to the distance where you actually need detail, not the maximum on the sheet.
Can the zoom be adjusted after installation?
The supplied data lists the lens as 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal with 4× optical zoom, but it does not state how the zoom is driven. If being able to adjust the view remotely matters to you, tell us on WhatsApp before you order and we will confirm that detail on the exact unit.
Does it need a different recorder from the other cameras?
It outputs standard analog HD video like the rest of the range, so it shares a recorder with them. The recorder does need to accept 5 MP input to make use of the resolution. It is common to use one varifocal on the long approach and fixed-lens cameras elsewhere.
