About the 8 Megapixel IR FHD Dome Camera

Most 4K-class cameras at this level are IP models; this one is not. The PLC 338M IR3 PM puts a 3840 × 2160 sensor on ordinary coax and outputs AHD, TVI, CVI or CVBS, so a building already wired for analog can reach 8 MP without new network cabling. Its IP67 dome body and 30-metre infrared range suit fixed entry points rather than long open approaches. The real constraint sits at the recorder: your XVR must accept 8 MP on that channel, and tired or thin coax will show its age at this resolution.

Frequently asked questions

Will this camera work with the DVR I already have?

It outputs AHD, TVI, CVI and CVBS, so it will connect to most analog recorders. Whether you actually get 3840 × 2160 depends on the recorder accepting 8 MP on that channel; an older Full HD DVR will record at its own ceiling, not the camera's. Send us your DVR model number on WhatsApp and we will check compatibility before you order.

Does it record in colour at night?

It carries both full-colour night vision and infrared and switches automatically as light falls. Where there is some ambient light, such as a street lamp or a porch bulb, colour is more likely to hold; in a completely dark lane the infrared takes over out to 30 metres and the image becomes monochrome. The 0.01 lux figure in the specification refers to the daytime colour view threshold.

Is my existing coax good enough for 8 MP?

Resolution this high is less forgiving than 2 MP on marginal cable. Full copper-core coax, clean connectors and reasonable run lengths matter; joints, aluminium-braid cable and long runs are where the picture softens or drops out. If you are reusing old cabling, we usually test one channel before committing the whole system.

How is it powered?

It runs on DC12V, so there is no PoE option and power has to be provided separately, either from a local adaptor or a central SMPS with power cable run alongside the coax. On long runs, voltage drop is the thing to plan for. We size the supply as part of the site quote.

What does it cost, and does that include installation?
