About the 8 Megapixel Network Vandal Proof Dome Motorized Camera

Everything in the dome range comes together here: 4K at 3840 × 2160, a motorised 2.8–12 mm lens with 4× optical zoom, 50 metres of infrared, and an IK10 impact-rated IP67 housing. It suits positions that are both within reach of interference and awkward to frame, such as plaza entrances, factory gate canopies and school yards. Minimum colour illumination is 0.032 lux, so in genuinely unlit areas it drops to infrared earlier than the fixed-lens versions. Frequently asked questions

Why choose this over the fixed-lens vandal dome?

Two things: the motorised 2.8–12 mm lens, which lets you set the framing remotely and change it later, and the 50 metre infrared range against 30 metres on the fixed model. If the position is simple and the view will never change, the fixed dome is the sensible saving.

Does zooming in reduce image quality?

Not in the way digital zoom does. This is optical zoom, so the sensor still records the full 3840 × 2160 across whatever the lens is pointed at. What you lose is field of view, since a tighter frame covers less area.

Will one of these cover an entire plaza entrance?

It depends on the width and the mounting height, and on whether you need to recognise faces or simply see movement. We would rather look at the site layout with you on WhatsApp than guess, because a wrongly placed varifocal camera is an expensive mistake.

Is it suitable for a fully exposed rooftop position?

The IP67 rating allows outdoor mounting. On a rooftop we would still recommend a shaded or sheltered spot where possible, as it keeps the dome bubble cleaner and reduces glare in the picture through the day.
