Gulberg is a commercial job even when the building is a house
A large share of the CCTV work we do in Gulberg I to V is inside buildings that were designed as family homes. A big old residence on Main Boulevard or a side street in Gulberg III is as often a clinic, a salon, a boutique, a law office or a restaurant as it is a residence.
That changes the design completely. A house needs perimeter cover. A converted commercial building needs entrance and reception, each floor landing, the corridor, the back exit and the room where cash or records are kept, and it needs the recorder somewhere a tenant cannot casually unplug it.
If your Gulberg property is mid-conversion, design for the layout you will have after partitioning, not the empty rooms visible at survey. Send the floor plan to WhatsApp and we will mark positions on it.
Typical starting scope for Gulberg properties
Starting scopes only, settled after we see the floor plan and how the building is actually used.
| Property | Typical cameras | Recorder | Usual priorities |
|---|---|---|---|
| Converted house used as an office or clinic | 8-16 | 16 channel | Gate, reception, corridors, each landing, back exit, record room |
| Restaurant or cafe | 12-24 | 16 or 32 channel | Entrance, frontage and valet area, till, kitchen pass, store, back door |
| Shop in a market or electronics centre | 3-6 | 4 or 8 channel | Door, counter at customer eye line, display run, stock room |
| Plaza common areas | 4-8 per floor | 32 channel upwards | Lobby, lift, staircase and basement parking on the building's own recorder |
| Kanal house still in residential use | 8-12 | 16 channel | Gate, driveway, side walls, roof access, servant entrance |
Till coverage that survives a dispute
A complaint we hear often from retailers around Liberty Market, Main Market and Ghalib Market is that they have cameras everywhere and still cannot settle a cash argument. Usually it is the angle, not the camera.
A wide shot from the ceiling corner shows that a transaction happened. It rarely shows which note was handed over, or whether the drawer was open. Cash handling needs a camera placed closer to the counter, angled across the till at roughly the customer’s eye line, and lit so the note and the hands are visible against a bright shop interior.
Face capture at a shop door works well in Gulberg because footfall is heavy and doorways are narrow, which naturally funnels people past a fixed point. Plate capture from Main Boulevard traffic is a different matter, and we will tell you when it is not realistic rather than sell you a camera that will disappoint you.
Multi-tenant plazas: agree the boundaries first
Gulberg buildings usually have one owner and several tenants. Most of the disputes we get called into come down to a few things nobody wrote down at the start.
- Who owns the recorder — The building's common-area system and each tenant's own system should be separate recorders. Mixing them means the landlord can see inside a tenant's shop and the tenant can see the whole building.
- Who can see what — We set up separate user accounts so each tenant's app shows only their own floor or unit, and the building manager sees only lobbies, lifts, stairs and parking.
- What happens at the end of the lease — Decide in advance whether the cameras stay with the building or leave with the tenant, and who holds the recorded footage on the handover date.
- Cabling discipline in dense markets — Older commercial buildings carry heavily loaded risers. We route and junction our own cabling properly rather than adding another unmanaged bundle to a shared duct.
- Signage at the entrance — A visible notice at reception that the premises are monitored is basic good practice for a customer-facing business, and it costs almost nothing.
Power, generators and Gulberg's electrical reality
Assume the supply will drop
Older commercial pockets here see outages and voltage dips, particularly in summer with heavy air conditioning load. Design the system on the assumption that the supply will drop rather than hold.
Generator changeover is hard on electronics
Restaurants and plazas usually have a generator. The changeover moment is when recorders and switches tend to take a hit, so the rack belongs behind a UPS rather than directly on the changeover output.
Keep the internet link alive
Owners who watch their branch from home lose the view the moment the ONU dies. The router shares the UPS with the recorder in the systems we build.
Night on a busy frontage
Bright signage and passing headlights create glare that ruins a poorly placed camera. Dual-light or full-colour models handle a lit frontage better than plain infrared.
How we handle a Gulberg site
1. Survey outside trading hours where needed
For restaurants and busy retail we survey and install around your trading pattern so the counter and the entrance are not blocked at peak time.
2. Zone-wise scope
We list cameras by zone, entrance, till, corridor, store, back door, so you can see exactly what each camera is for before you approve it.
3. Written quotation
Itemised hardware, cabling, labour and storage sizing. Pricing is shared directly on WhatsApp or by email rather than published.
4. Install, configure, hand over
Cabling routed neatly, recorder secured in a lockable position, user accounts created per manager, and a short session on exporting a clip.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover all of Gulberg?
Yes, we work across Gulberg I to V, Main Boulevard and the surrounding market areas including Liberty, Main Market, Firdous Market and Ghalib Market, for both residential and commercial buildings.
I am converting a house into an office. When should the CCTV be planned?
During partitioning, not after. Once the false ceiling and partitions are in, cabling becomes surface work. Planning it alongside the conversion means concealed runs and fewer visible boxes.
Can my tenants and I share one system in a plaza?
It is better not to. We recommend a building recorder for lobbies, lifts, stairs and parking, and separate recorders for each tenant, with app accounts scoped so nobody sees more than they should.
Can a camera cover my restaurant without pointing at diners?
Yes. Coverage is aimed at entrances, the till, the service pass, stores and back doors, and seating areas are covered only as much as an entrance shot naturally includes. Privacy masking is applied where a table would otherwise dominate the frame.
Will a camera on Main Boulevard read number plates?
Not reliably from a general overview camera on a busy road. Plate reading needs a dedicated camera at a controlled entry point with the right angle and lighting, which is realistic for a plaza ramp or a private gate.
My shop already has cameras from another installer. Can you take it over?
Yes. We service and upgrade systems installed by others, and we can add cameras to an existing recorder where the channel count and the technology allow it.
How much does CCTV for a Gulberg shop cost?
Contact for Price. A three-camera shop and a sixteen-camera restaurant are very different jobs, so we quote after seeing the layout. Send photos on WhatsApp and we will come back with an indicative scope.
