Frequently asked questions

Can I run eight cameras at 30 W each?

No. Thirty watts is the per-port maximum, but the total PoE budget is 120 W across the eight ports, so what matters is the sum of what everything connected actually draws. Standard fixed cameras normally leave plenty of headroom; pan-tilt units and cameras with heaters are the ones to check against their own datasheets. Send us your camera model on WhatsApp and we will do the arithmetic.

Can I mount this outside on a pole?

Not as it is. IP30 protection guards against solid objects, not water, so outdoors it belongs inside a sealed weatherproof enclosure. In Lahore's monsoon that is not optional. The 4 KV lightning protection helps with surges on the cable, but it does not make the housing weatherproof.

Is this a managed switch?

The published feature set covers store-and-forward switching, PoE, jumbo frames and lightning protection; it does not list VLAN support or web management. For a straightforward camera network that is usually all you need. If your site requires VLAN segmentation or per-port control, tell us and we will point you at a suitable alternative.

How far can the cameras be from the switch?

Up to 100 m on Cat3 to Cat5e UTP, per the switch specification. Beyond that you either need another switch in the chain or one of the extender-capable models in this range, which push transmission further at reduced speed. Measure the longest run before choosing between them.
