Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this and the SS316E storage server?

Both use 16 SATA bays and reach the same capacity, but this model carries the management platform as well as the storage. The SS316E is storage-focused and expects a management server elsewhere in the system. If you are building from scratch and want one unit, the MS616E is the simpler answer.

Do the hard disks come with the server?

Drive configuration is decided per project, since capacity depends on camera count, resolution and how long you need to keep footage. Maximum supported capacity is 256TB using 16TB disks. Discuss your retention target with us on WhatsApp and we will size the disks with you.

Can drives be replaced without shutting the system down?

The 16 main bays are hot-swappable and each drive sits in its own bracket, so a disk can be pulled and replaced in place. With RAID 5 or 6 configured, the array rebuilds onto the new disk. This is the main reason to run RAID rather than independent disks.

How many operators can watch live video at the same time?

Simultaneous preview reaches 100 channels per user and playback runs to 16 channels, with 128-channel decoding output available. Real-world numbers depend on stream resolution and the network between the server and each workstation. We can review your control room plan before you order.
