Is this a replacement for a management server?
No. It is a storage server built to hold and serve video, integrating with PVMS Plus for management. If your system does not already have a management platform, the MS624E combines both roles in one 24-bay chassis.
How does it differ from the SS316E?
Bay count and capacity are the headline: 24 bays and 384TB here against 16 bays and 256TB, with an 800W redundant supply instead of 550W. The processors also differ, with a Core i3 in this model and a Xeon E3 in the 16-bay unit. Both share the same RAID options and 700 Mbps bandwidth figure.
How many users can access recordings at once?
Up to 64 online users are supported, expandable to 1024. Practical concurrency also depends on stream resolution and the bandwidth between the server and each workstation. It is worth reviewing your network alongside the server specification.
What happens if a disk fails?
With RAID 5 or 6 configured, the array continues running and the failed disk can be pulled from its independent bracket and replaced while the system is live. The array then rebuilds onto the new drive. Web-based management shows RAID status along with recording, logs and alarms.
