About the 16-SATA Storage Server
Where a management platform already exists, adding raw recording capacity is the job, and the PLC SS316E E is built for exactly that. An Intel Xeon E3 processor on Linux drives 16 hot-swappable 3.5 inch SATA bays plus two 2.5 inch positions, up to 256TB in total, with hardware RAID 0, 1, 5 and 6 and 700 Mbps of incoming recording bandwidth. Web-based management covers RAID status, recording, logs and alarms, and it integrates with PVMS Plus. The trade-off against the management variants is deliberate: this unit stores and serves video, it does not run the management platform itself.
Key benefits
- Sixteen hot-swappable SATA bays plus two 2.5 inch positions scale storage to 256TB with 16TB disks
- Xeon E3 with 8GB DDR4 ECC memory, expandable to 64GB, suits sustained round-the-clock writing
- Handles 700 Mbps of incoming and recording bandwidth, enough headroom for a dense camera count
- Dual gigabit LAN with load balancing and failover keeps footage flowing if one link fails
- An integrated display controller allows local monitoring at the rack without a separate workstation
- IPMI with iKVM gives remote control even when the operating system is not responding
Where it works well
- Adding recording capacity to an existing PVMS Plus deployment
- Dedicated storage node in a data centre style security rack
- Branch site storage feeding a central management server
- Long-retention archive for a facility with strict record-keeping needs
- Second storage unit alongside an existing management and storage server

Frequently asked questions
Can this run as a standalone system on its own?
It is designed as a storage server working with a management platform such as PVMS Plus rather than as a complete standalone system. It does provide web-based management for RAID, recording, logs and alarms on the unit itself. If you need one box that does both jobs, look at the MS616E instead.
Why does it use a Xeon processor?
Xeon E3 with ECC memory targets sustained enterprise workloads, and error-correcting memory reduces the risk of silent data corruption during continuous writes. Video recording is a constant write load, so that stability matters over months of uninterrupted operation.
What RAID level should I choose?
RAID 5 and RAID 6 are the usual choices for surveillance storage because they keep capacity usable while tolerating a disk failure, with RAID 6 tolerating two. RAID 0 offers no protection and RAID 1 halves your usable space. We can walk through the trade-off for your camera count on WhatsApp.
What interfaces does it provide for setup?
VGA, USB, RJ45, IPMI and RS-232 are available on the unit. That covers local setup at the rack, network operation and out-of-band remote management. Installation and commissioning in Lahore are arranged through us at +92 300 0030132.
