Where the 10K model caps face templates well below its headline user count, the PLF 20K VLP does not: 20,000 users, 20,000 faces and 20,000 cards and passwords, plus 10,000 fingerprints and 5,000 palms. The larger 8-inch IPS touch screen and 2 MP binocular camera make it the more comfortable terminal at a busy shift change, with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB RAM behind it. Wiring extends to RS232 alongside RS485, serial and Wiegand 26/34. For a forty-person office this is more terminal than the job needs.

How is this different from the Face Smart 10K model?

Four things change in a way you will notice: the camera goes from 1 MP to 2 MP, the screen from 5 inches to 8, the processor from 1.2 GHz to 1.5 GHz dual-core, and RAM from 256 MB to 512 MB. Capacity is the bigger difference, with 20,000 faces rather than 6,000 and 5,000 palms rather than 3,000. It also adds RS232 to the wiring options.

Is a 20,000-user terminal overkill for a mid-sized office?

Usually yes, if you are only counting heads. The reasons a smaller organisation still picks it are the 8-inch screen, the faster processor and the headroom to keep years of enrolments without pruning. If none of those matter to you, the 10K model does the same job for less.

Can it be installed at an outdoor gate?

It is described as an indoor device, even though the stated operating range runs from –30°C to +60°C. Temperature tolerance is not the same as weather protection, and no ingress rating is quoted. If the entry point is exposed, mount it inside a covered guard post or lobby rather than on an open wall.

How do we get attendance data out of it?

It stores up to 200,000 transaction logs on board and connects over built-in Wi-Fi, TCP/IP or USB 2.0. Most offices pull records over the network into attendance software; USB is the fallback when the network is unavailable. We configure whichever route suits your IT setup during installation.
