About the High-Definition Decoder

Decoding is a separate job from recording, and the PLC D1104 PM exists to take network streams and put them on screens without loading that work onto a recorder or PC. Built on an RK3588 platform running embedded Linux with 8GB LPDDR4, it drives four HDMI outputs, with the first capable of 8K, the second and third of 4K, and the fourth of 1080p. Layouts run from a single window up to 64. The decoding budget is shared across channels, so the honest trade-off is resolution against channel count.

How many cameras can it show at once?

It depends entirely on the resolution of those streams. The stated capability runs from about four channels at 16MP down to 255 channels at CIF, with 1080p sitting around 32 channels, all at 30fps. In practice most sites mix resolutions, so the workable number sits somewhere between those figures.

Do I still need a recorder if I have this decoder?

Yes. A decoder handles display only, it does not store video. It pulls streams from your recorders, storage servers or cameras and renders them on the connected screens.

Can all four HDMI outputs run 4K?

No, and this is worth planning around. HDMI1 goes up to 8K, HDMI2 and HDMI3 up to 4K, and HDMI4 is limited to 1080p. Position your most detail-critical screens on the higher-capability outputs.

What power does it need at the rack?

It runs on DC12V at 4A with a rated consumption of 48W, and is specified for operation between -10°C and +50°C at 10 to 90 percent humidity. A control room with normal air conditioning should stay comfortably inside that range.
