About IP Cameras
PoE network cameras from 2MP to 8MP, quoted as a complete system with the correct NVR, switch, cable and storage. An IP camera sends its video over network cable and, on a PoE model, takes its power from the same cable. That single change removes the separate 12V supply and the string of power adapters that cause so many faults on older systems. For a new build or a house still at grey structure stage, it is the cleaner way to wire.An IP camera price on its own is only part of the answer. The camera has to land on an NVR with enough channels and throughput, and if the recorder does not have built-in PoE ports you also need a PoE switch sized for the load. We quote all of it together so there is no missing piece on installation day.
What You Get by Going IP
Higher usable resolution
Common models run 2MP, 4MP, 5MP and 8MP, and the full resolution reaches the recorder without the conversion losses of an analog chain.
Fewer power points
PoE means no separate adapter at each camera, which removes a very common failure point on rooftops and boundary walls.
Real digital zoom into footage
More pixels across the frame means zooming into a recorded clip still leaves something readable, within reason.
On-camera detection features
Many models carry human and vehicle detection to cut false alerts from trees and shadows. Accuracy depends on placement and light — we set expectations at survey, not on the spec sheet.
Simple expansion
Adding a camera later is a cable run and a licence-free channel on the NVR, not a rewire of the whole system.
Clean structured cabling
The same Cat6 infrastructure serves cameras, access control and data points — see our structured cabling service.
The Parts of a Complete IP System
When you ask for an IP camera price in Lahore, this is the list we actually quote against.
| Component | What decides the choice |
|---|---|
| IP cameras | Number of points, indoor or outdoor, distance to the subject, night light conditions |
| NVR | Channel count, total bitrate of all cameras, number of hard disk bays |
| PoE switch | Needed when the NVR has no built-in PoE, or when cameras sit far from the rack |
| Cat6 cable and accessories | Run lengths, indoor or outdoor grade, conduit or casing, junction boxes and glands |
| Hard disk | Days of retention you want at the resolution you have chosen |
| Power backup | A small UPS or a backed-up circuit for the NVR, switch and internet router |
Cable Length and Power — The Two Lahore Realities
These are the two points that decide whether an IP system behaves well after handover.
- The 100 metre limit is real — Ethernet over copper is good for about 100 m including patch leads. On a kanal or two kanal house, the run from the front gate to the NVR position often gets close to that, so we place a switch near the gate rather than stretching one long cable.
- Put the rack on the backed-up circuit — Many homes now run a hybrid inverter and battery bank. Recording during a power cut only works if the NVR, PoE switch and router are on the backed-up side of the DB, not the raw grid circuit.
- The router matters as much as the recorder — If the ONU and router lose power, recording continues but mobile viewing and alerts stop. That is exactly the window people ask about later.
- Surge protection on external runs — Long rooftop and pole runs are exposed to surge and lightning. Proper earthing and surge protection at the switch is cheap compared to replacing a switch and four cameras.
- Plan conduit before plaster — On a house under construction, laying conduit during grey structure is the single biggest cost saver. Retrofitting a finished house means casing on the outside or a roof-level route.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a PoE IP camera and a normal IP camera?
Both send video over network cable. A PoE model also draws its power from that cable, so no separate adapter is needed at the camera. A non-PoE IP camera still needs a local 12V supply. For almost every installation we do, PoE is the better choice because it removes the adapters and gives you central control of camera power.
Can I run IP cameras on my existing coaxial cable?
Not directly. Coaxial cable was laid for analog cameras. Either the cable is replaced with Cat6, or a converter is used at each end, or you stay with the analog range and upgrade the cameras instead. If your building is already cabled and plastered, that second option is often the sensible one — see our IP vs analog comparison.
How many cameras can I connect to an 8 channel PoE NVR?
Eight, provided the total bitrate and the PoE power budget of the recorder are both within limits. High resolution cameras streaming at high bitrate can hit the recorder's throughput ceiling before you hit eight cameras, which is why we check the numbers rather than counting ports.
Do IP cameras need an internet connection?
No. Recording to the NVR works with no internet at all. Internet is only needed to view the cameras on your phone from outside the premises. If remote viewing is the priority, see remote CCTV monitoring, because some Pakistani connections need extra setup to work reliably.
What happens if a cable run is longer than 100 metres?
We place an intermediate PoE switch, use a switch with an extended-reach mode where the model supports it, or move the recorder position. On large plots we sometimes build a second small distribution point near the gate. This is normal design work, not an extra problem.
Will the system keep recording during load shedding?
Only if the recorder and switch are powered. We size a small UPS for the NVR, PoE switch and router, or move that circuit onto your existing inverter supply. Without it, the outage window is the one period you have no footage of.
How do I get a price?
Every item is Contact for Price. Send your camera count and locations on WhatsApp and we will quote the complete system the same day.
Not sure which model fits your site?
Send us the property type and how many cameras you need. We reply with the models that suit, current prices and Lahore installation charges.
